A records are fundamental components of the Domain Name System (DNS). They map a domain name or subdomain to a corresponding IP address, allowing visitors to access your website when they type your domain name into their browser. This guide outlines the steps involved in finding and managing your A records within your cPanel hosting account.

Steps to Locate the A record

1. Firstly, navigate to your cPanel’s login page and enter your cPanel username and password.

2. Within the cPanel interface, search for the “Domains” section. This is displayed prominently on the homepage or categorized under a broader section like “Software” or “Web Applications.”

3. Click on the option labeled “Zone Editor” or a similar icon/menu item within the “Domains” section. This will display a list of all domain names associated with your cPanel account.

4. Locate the domain name for which you want to view or manage A records. This might be your primary domain name or a subdomain you’ve created.

5. Depending on your specific cPanel theme, there might be two approaches to view the A records for your chosen domain:

  • Record List

Some cPanel themes present a list of all DNS records for the selected domain. Look for entries with the record type “A” in the list. These entries will display the hostname (e.g., “@” for the main domain or a subdomain name) and the corresponding IP address it points to.

  • Visual Representation

Alternatively, some themes might offer a visual representation of your DNS records. Look for a section labeled “A Records” or similar within the domain’s details. This section will showcase the hostnames and corresponding IP addresses for all A records associated with the domain.
