Managing website files often involves granting access to multiple users. cPanel’s FTP Accounts functionality empowers you to establish individual FTP accounts for authorized users. For enhanced website management, assigning secure file access to specific users can be beneficial. This knowledge base article surely guides you through creating additional FTP users account within your cPanel account.

Adding a New FTP Account

1. Navigate to your cPanel’s login page and enter your cPanel username and password.

2. Within the cPanel interface, search for the “FTP Accounts” section or a similar category.

3. Locate the section labeled “Add FTP Account” or a similar option. This typically resides at the top of the “FTP Accounts” page.

4. The “Add FTP Account” section surely provide you with several options to configure your new FTP account:

  • Domain

Select the domain associated with the website’s files the user will be accessing.

Define a unique username for the new FTP account.

  • Password

Create a secure password particularly for the FTP account. Adhere to strong password practices, including combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

  • Directory

Specify the directory within your website’s file structure that this user will have access to. Leaving this field blank grants access to the entire home directory, while assigning a specific directory restricts access to that particular location and its subfolders.

  • Quota

Optionally, set a disk space quota to limit the amount of storage this user can consume on the server.

  1. Once you’ve configured the desired settings, click the button labeled “Create FTP Account” or a similar action to finalize the creation of the new FTP account.

By leveraging cPanel’s FTP Accounts functionality, you can indeed establish a secure and controlled environment for multiple users to access and manage your website’s files.
