DirectAdmin provides the flexibility to integrate SSL certificates obtained from external vendors. This guide outlines the steps to easily install third-party SSL certificate within your DirectAdmin control panel.

Steps to Install Third-Party SSL

1. Log in to your DirectAdmin panel and navigate to the “Account Manager” section. Locate the option labeled “SSL Certificates” and click on it.

2. Within the “SSL Certificates” section, click on the button labeled “Create A Certificate Request.” This will display a form where you can provide essential details for your CSR.

Fill in the necessary fields accurately. This particularly includes information like your domain name, organization details, and locality.
Select the desired key size from the provided dropdown menu. Key size refers to the encryption strength of your SSL certificate. Consult your web hosting provider or security best practices for recommendations on appropriate key sizes.
Enter the two-letter country code (e.g., IN for India) in the designated field.

3. Once you’ve completed the form, click the “SAVE” button to generate the CSR.

4. The system will generate a success message and display the newly created CSR. Copy the CSR text. You can then submit this CSR to your chosen SSL certificate provider to obtain a signed SSL certificate specific to your domain.

5. Navigate back to the “SSL Certificates” section within DirectAdmin. Proceed by clicking on the option labeled “Paste a pre-generated certificate and key“.

In the designated text boxes, paste your private key (obtained from your SSL provider) and the signed SSL certificate (obtained after submitting the CSR).

Click the “SAVE” button to finalize the installation of your SSL certificate and private key on the DirectAdmin server.

6. In some instances, you might need to install the root certificate (CA certificate) provided by your SSL certificate authority. This helps establish the chain of trust for your SSL certificate.
