How Do I Install WordPress on My Hosting?

Introduction

Installing WordPress on your hosting account is one of the fastest ways to start building a website.
Most hosting providers, including BigCloudy, offer simple auto-installation tools. You can also install WordPress manually if required.

This guide explains both methods so you can choose the one that suits you best.

Method 1: Install WordPress Using an Auto-Installer

What Is an Auto-Installer?

Auto-installers such as Softaculous, cPanel WordPress Manager, or One-Click Installers allow you to install WordPress quickly without technical setup.

💡 Tip: This is the recommended method for beginners.

Step 1: Log in to Your cPanel from your client area.

Log in to your hosting control panel from  BigCloudy  client portal using your account credentials.

Step 2: Open the WordPress Installer

In your control panel:

  • Go to Softaculous Apps Installer
    Click on WordPress

Step 3: Configure WordPress Settings

During installation, enter the following details:

  • Choose your domain
  • Set the admin username and password
  • Enter your site name and description
  • Select the installation directory
(leave it blank to install WordPress on the root domain)

Step 4: Click Install

Click Install to begin the setup.

Once completed, you’ll receive your WordPress login URL:

  • yourdomain.com/wp-admin

Method 2: Install WordPress Manually

Manual installation is useful if auto-installers are unavailable or if you prefer full control.

Step 1: Download WordPress

Visit the official WordPress website and download the latest WordPress version.

Step 2: Upload WordPress Files to Your Hosting

You can upload files using either method:

Using File Manager

  • Open File Manager in your hosting control panel
  • Navigate to the public_html directory
  • Upload and extract the WordPress ZIP file

Using FTP

  • Connect using an FTP client such as FileZilla
  • Upload WordPress files to the root directory

Step 3: Create a Database

To create a MySQL database:

  • Open MySQL Databases
  • Create a new database
  • Create a database user
  • Assign the user to the database with full permissions

💡 Tip: Save your database name, username, and password for the next step.

Step 4: Run the WordPress Installation

Open your website URL in a browser.

You will be prompted to:

  • Select your language
  • Enter database details:
  • Database name
  • Username
  • Password
  • Host (usually localhost)
  • Click Install WordPress to continue.

Step 5: Set Up the Admin Account

Enter:

  • Site title
  • Admin username
  • Admin password
  • Admin email address
  • Complete the setup to finish installation.

Conclusion

Installing WordPress on your hosting is a straightforward process, whether you use a one-click installer or choose manual installation. Once installed, WordPress gives you full control to build, customize, and manage your website with ease. By following this guide, you’ll have your WordPress site up and running in just a few minutes.
